I interviewed young and beautiful Emily Valdez. She’s very motivated to do what she loves doing in life. A quote from Emily, “I pride myself in being prompt and punctual to appointments and scheduled photoshoots. I am poised and confident, fun-loving, outgoing and personable.” Emily started modeling at a younger age in the Twin Cities area and is now well known here. She’s known for her beautiful work in the modeling industry and her stunning personality. Her photos are sheer beauty, she can use her emotions to make viewers understand the picture. I’ll post some photos for everyone to have a look at. Also, her blog site that she does herself is below everything.
Q: Where are you originally from?
A: Maple Grove, Minnesota.
Q: How old are you at the moment, if you don’t mind me asking?
A: I am seventeen.
Q: How many years have you been a model for?
A: I have been modeling for almost 10 years now.
Q: What made you want to become a model?
A: When I was pretty little my sister would always doll me up and call me a supermodel. I guess she planted that idea in my head from a young age, so it’s always something I’ve wanted to do.
Q: Do you have another job besides modeling, or is this a future career?
A: I don’t have another job at the moment. I do hope I can model for a while longer.
Q: Where do you see yourself in ten years?
A: I definitely don’t want to model for the rest of my life, but I do see myself involved in the fashion business. Wether it’s as a stylist, or managing a fashion company/corporation.
Q: What other talents do you have?
A: I’ve been playing the violin for 10 years. I’ve always played the piano. I was a cheerleader throughout middle school and high school, I’ve played soccer throughout middle school and part of high school. One of my newer hobbies is playing golf, I played last year for my school and I really enjoy it.
Q: I also found your blogging site on word press, how’s that going for you?
A: Oh yes! It’s great. I started earlier this year. It’s really fun to put all of your ideas/favorite pictures/memories in an online sort of journal. I enjoy blogging about fashion, my personal modeling career, and other fun miscellaneous things.
Q: Who do you look up to in the modeling industry?
A: Barbara Palvin. I absolutely adore her. She’s with one of the most prestigious modeling agencies in the country and she’s younger than I am. She just models so well. She entices you in her photos and that’s completely what I try and do.
Q: Do you enjoy collaborating with other models?
A: I do. The modeling industry in Minneapolis is pretty small, so chances are if you do end up modeling with another person, you know them/ have seen them around. It’s fun to work with another model because of the different energy/vibe they bring to the shoot.
Q: How tall are you?
A: I am 5’9″
Q: What’s your favorite feature on your body?
A: Hmm.. I would say my mouth. Including smile & amp; lips.
Q: How many photo shoots have you done and where?
A: I honestly couldn’t tell you a number. I’ve done a lot of shoots over the years. Many have been in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. I’ve also shot in Los Angeles and Chicago.
Q: Have you ever walked down a runway?
A: Yes I have.
Q: Who’s your favorite photographer?
A: I really love Thomas Schenk’s work.
Q: Who’s your favorite photographer you have worked with so far?
A: That’s a tough one, because I have worked with a lot of amazing and talented people in the Twin Cities. My favorite shoots to do are normally test shoots, so probably a test shoot photographer I’ve teamed up with.
Q: Do you work for a agency?
A: Yes I do, I work with 5 agencies locally.
Q: Do you have a manager, or are you currently looking?
A: Well I have several ‘agents’ within the agencies that work with clients to book me for jobs. But as far as managing what jobs I take, and don’t take, and when I’m free and such; I do most of my own managing in that way. My mom used to help me out by taking all the calls and figuring out all the little details when I was younger, but over the past couple years I’ve enjoyed taking over that roll.
Q: How can someone contact you for business?
A: Photographers can usually hit me up on Facebook, or on Model Mayhem. But normally I like to take my business exclusively through my agencies.
Q: How can fans view your most recent work?
A: On my blog or in my Facebook modeling album.
